About Me

If you're looking for a trainer who can push you in a safe and encouraging environment, a trainer who understands and can navigate a busy adults life, a trainer who gets results...then look no further!

Growing up as the younger child of an active family, I would always try and join my siblings teams when they played with friends. While I may not have been as good as the older kids, I learned many valuable skills and life lessons. I learned two specific lessons that resonate with me today:
-Don't compare yourself to others, compare yourself today with where you were yesterday.
-Take yourself outside your comfort zone. Growth begins where comfort ends.

In school, I was a multi-sport athlete, playing everything from lacrosse to baseball to soccer. In fact, I played with the US Regional Olympic Development Team and the MetroStars U17 Team for soccer as a goal keeper. As an adult, I continued to play competitive soccer and developed a love with distance racing, completing dozens of marathons, ultra marathons, and a triathlon. Now, as a father of two, my sport has been finding a balance between family life, work life, and my own exercise. I've found that fatherhood has helped me appreciate how busy life can be and how important being active and healthy is as an adult...and how challenging finding time to take care of yourself can be. As an experience personal trainer and parent, I've developed methods for being an involved parent who also dedicates time to their health and fitness. And while every person is unique, the skills I've developed as a trainer over the past 12 years have taught me how to identify a persons needs in the gym, and at home, and to bridge the gap between them.

Exercise and home life are not mutually exclusive. I've found that active parents who encourage their kids to get outside more, use the stairs more, and find ways to be more active are leading by example and helping to teach their kids to be active and healthy with just their actions....and actions speak louder than words!

I graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology, but before I could continue my education in physical therapy, I was injured as an EMT and required life altering back surgery. For a short time, my life was bleak, until something clicked and I discovered a strength I didn't know I had; I found motivation and determination. I found a calling in me to be better than I was yesterday and to not be stifled by perceived limitations. This was what led me to distance running, but, more importantly, this led me to the most valuable life lesson to date: You are the arbiter of your limitations; "the only one who can tell you "you can't" is you...and you don't have to listen." (to paraphrase the great Jessica Ennis-Hill).

As a personal trainer, understanding limitations and how to work around them is paramount if you're going to successfully work with an individual. I pride myself in creating unique, science-based, programs for each person based on their individual needs. While working with me, a client will received one-on-one instruction and attention, with programs created to accomplish specific long terms goals, as well as, short term goals each workout. In addition to the workout, clients are educated as to the "how and why" of exercises, because an educated client is a successful client and a successful client is what makes me a successful trainer!
